NWA Housing Crisis
"Home is where the heart is," or so the saying goes. It’s what we all want home to be like. But as we listened to the housing stories of our Circle Leaders—renters and families seeking safe, stable, and secure housing—we realized it may be more accurate in Arkansas to say: Home is where the hardship is.
Below, you will find the recording of our most recent “Becoming Visible” event, Home Is Where the Hardship Is: The Stress of Housing in Arkansas. At this event, we invited our Circle Leaders to share their housing stories and asked our community to listen and learn from the real experiences of individuals and families facing the stress of housing in Arkansas. Together we hoped to make visible what is often invisible in the housing conversation.
A Community Committed
To address the housing crisis in NWA, we need to become a community committed - committed to pursuing many different avenues that lead to solutions that will address both the need for affordable housing and the need for more protection for renters.
These puzzle pieces symbolize the commitment of those in attendance at our event to being a part of the solution to this crisis.
Malath Alarnosi, one of our Circle Leaders and an accomplished artist, will be taking the pieces and putting them together to form a work of art inspired by this event and all we discussed. Sign up for our newsletter to get updates and see the final work of art!
